Benny the Bear loved to bounce. He bounced on his bed, he bounced on the grass, and he especially loved to bounce when Mama Bear sang. But today, something was different.
A loud, “La-la-LAAA! Where did you GOOO?” filled the air.
Benny stopped bouncing. “What’s that noise?” he asked, scratching his furry head.
He followed the sound to the laundry basket. Peeking inside, he saw a little blue sock, all alone. It was singing very loudly, bouncing on its own little sock heel!
“La-la-LAAA! My twin is GONE! Oh, where can he be?” sang the sock.
Benny had never heard a sock sing before! “Why are you singing so loud?” he asked.
The little blue sock sighed. “I’m trying to find my twin! We always play together, but now he’s lost!”
Benny felt a little sad for the singing sock. He usually liked to play alone, but maybe helping the sock would be fun. “I can help you look!” he offered.
The sock wiggled with excitement. “Oh, would you? That would be wonderful!”
So, Benny and the singing sock started their search. They looked under the bed, but only found dust bunnies. They looked behind the curtains, but only found a sleepy ladybug.
“La-la-LAAA! Have you seen my TWIN? He’s blue and a lot of FUN!” sang the sock, its voice a little weaker now.
Benny heard a giggle. It was coming from the toy box! They hurried over.
And there it was! The other blue sock! It was playing peek-a-boo with a teddy bear.
“TWIN!” shouted the singing sock, jumping out of the laundry basket . It tumbled into the toy box and gave his twin a big, soft hug.
The two blue socks were so happy to be together again. They even sang a happy song: “La-la-LAAA! We’re together today! Thank you, Benny Bear! Hooray, hooray!”
Benny the Bear smiled. He felt warm and fuzzy inside. He had never helped someone find something before. And he realised that it was so much fun when everyone works together. “You’re welcome!” he said. “Maybe we can all play together now!”
The two blue socks and Benny the Bear all played together until it was time for Benny’s nap, and Benny knew that it’s always fun when you do thing together!
