Spotty the puppy was a very special puppy. He wasn’t just any puppy. He was a polka-dot puppy! He had bright red spots, sunny yellow spots, and even sparkly blue spots all over his fluffy white fur.
Spotty loved his spots. He thought they made him the most special puppy in the whole wide world. And he didn’t want to share them. Not with anyone.
One day, the other puppies – Rosie, Barnaby, and Daisy – were planning a parade.
“Let’s have a colorful parade!” barked Rosie. “We can decorate ourselves with flowers and ribbons!”
“But we don’t have anything really colorful,” sighed Barnaby. “Except Spotty’s spots!”
Daisy wagged her tail. “Maybe Spotty will share some of his spots for our parade?”
They went to find Spotty, who was busy bouncing a bright orange ball.
“Spotty,” said Rosie, “We’re having a parade, and we wondered if you’d like to share some of your spots to make it extra colorful?”
Spotty stopped bouncing his ball. “Share my spots?” he yelped. “No way! These are my spots! They’re special!”
The other puppies looked sad. “Oh,” said Barnaby quietly. They turned and walked away, planning their parade without Spotty’s spots.
Spotty watched them go. He bounced his ball, but it didn’t feel as fun anymore. He saw Rosie decorating her ears with dandelions, but they weren’t as bright as his red spots. He saw Barnaby tying a blue ribbon around his tail, but it wasn’t as sparkly as his blue spots.
Spotty started to feel a little bit…lonely. He saw the other puppies marching along, pulling a little wagon decorated with leaves and berries. They looked like they were having fun, but something was missing.
Spotty knew what it was. His spots!
He ran after the parade, his tail wagging furiously. “Wait!” he barked. “Wait for me!”
The other puppies stopped and looked at him.
“I’ve changed my mind,” said Spotty. “I’ll share my spots! I want to be in the parade too!”
The other puppies wagged their tails excitedly. “Hooray!” barked Daisy. “How are you going to share them?”
Spotty thought for a moment. Then he had an idea! He took a big, juicy berry and rubbed it on his red spots. The color came off easily and he helped everyone put colours on their fur.
He did the same with his yellow and blue spots, turning the parade into the most colorful parade the garden has ever seen!
They all marched together, Spotty leading the way, with everyone covered in spotty colors. Spotty realized that sharing his spots didn’t make them any less special. It made the parade even more special! And being with his friends was the best feeling of all.
From that day on, Spotty loved to share his spots with everyone. He knew that sharing makes everything more fun and that is what counts!
