Jesus Heals a Blind Man

Jesus healing a blind man by his hand, Bible story

Origin: John 9:1-12 in the Bible

Once upon a time, in a bustling town, there lived a man who was blind from birth. He had never seen the beauty of the world around him, and he relied on others to help him navigate through life.

One day, Jesus and His disciples were walking through the town when they saw the blind man sitting by the roadside, begging for coins. The disciples asked Jesus, “Teacher, why was this man born blind? Was it because of his sins or his parents’ sins?”

Jesus replied, “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins. This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.”

Then Jesus knelt down, spat on the ground, and made mud with His saliva. He spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes and said, “Go and wash in the pool of Siloam.”

The blind man did as Jesus instructed, and as he washed the mud from his eyes, he could suddenly see! He blinked in amazement as the world around him came into focus for the very first time.

The people in the town were astonished when they saw the man who had been blind now walking around, seeing everything clearly. They asked each other in amazement, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?”

Some said, “Yes, he is the one!” while others argued, “No, he just looks like him.”

But the man who had been blind kept insisting, “I am the same man!”

So the people asked him, “How were your eyes opened?”

He replied, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes. He told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”

The people were amazed by this miracle and brought the man to the Pharisees, the religious leaders of the town. They questioned him about how he had been healed.

The man explained the whole story to them, but some of the Pharisees refused to believe that Jesus had performed such a miracle. They argued among themselves, saying, “This man Jesus is not from God because He doesn’t obey the Sabbath.”

But others said, “How could a sinner do such miraculous signs?” And there was a division among them.

Finally, they turned back to the man who had been blind and asked him, “What do you say about this man Jesus?”

The man replied, “He must be a prophet sent from God, for no one has ever been able to open the eyes of a blind man before.”

And so, children, the story of Jesus healing the blind man teaches us about the power of faith and the compassion of Jesus. Just as Jesus healed the blind man and opened his eyes, He can also heal our hearts and open our minds to see the wonders of His love.
