Jesus and the Children

Jesus talking to children, Bible Story

Origin: Mark 10:13-16 in the Bible

Once upon a time, in a land called Judea, there lived a great teacher and healer named Jesus. Everywhere Jesus went, people gathered around him to listen to his wise words and to seek his help.

One day, some parents brought their children to see Jesus. They wanted Jesus to bless their little ones and to lay his hands on them, so they could receive his special love and care.

However, Jesus’ disciples thought the children were too small and unimportant to bother Jesus with. They tried to send the children away, thinking that Jesus had more important things to do.

But when Jesus saw what his disciples were doing, he became very displeased. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Jesus then gathered the children close to him, and he hugged them and blessed them. He smiled at each child, and he listened to their innocent laughter and joyful chatter. Jesus made sure that every child felt loved and cherished.

The parents were overjoyed to see Jesus’ kindness towards their children. They thanked Jesus and praised God for his goodness.

Afterward, Jesus turned to his disciples and said, “Truly I tell you, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Jesus wanted his disciples to understand that having a childlike faith and trust was very important in God’s kingdom.

And so, children, the story of Jesus and the children teaches us about the importance of kindness, love, and humility. Jesus showed us that every child is precious in God’s eyes and that we should always welcome and care for them.
