Origin: Exodus 3 in the Bible
Once upon a time, there lived a man named Moses. Moses was taking care of his father-in-law’s sheep when something amazing happened.
One day, as Moses was tending to the sheep on a mountain called Horeb, he saw a bush that was on fire. But the strange thing was, even though the bush was on fire, it didn’t burn up! Moses was curious and went closer to take a look.
As Moses approached the burning bush, he heard a voice coming from the flames. The voice said, “Moses, Moses!”
Moses replied, “Here I am.”
Then the voice said, “Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
Moses was surprised and a little scared. He took off his sandals and listened carefully to the voice.
The voice continued, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. I have seen the suffering of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their cries for help. I have come down to rescue them and bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey.”
God told Moses that He had chosen him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land. Moses was amazed and felt unworthy of such an important task.
But God reassured Moses, saying, “I will be with you. And when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will worship me on this mountain.”
Moses was filled with awe and wonder at the presence of God in the burning bush. He knew that God was with him and would help him do what seemed impossible.
So, children, the story of Moses and the Burning Bush teaches us that God is always with us, even in the midst of extraordinary events. It reminds us that God hears our prayers and calls us to do great things, no matter how small or ordinary we may feel.
